Camp Mograph Soundpack

In September of 2021 Sanctus was invited to lead a sound design workshop at Camp Mograph in Portland Oregon. Over the course of 7 small group sessions we reconstructed the sound design for an animated spot with our campers using only a handheld recorder to capture audio from objects and locations around the camp ground. We collected so many quality sounds we decided to edit and release them as a free sound library. All sounds are scrubbed and tagged for search-ability using the Universal Catalog System.

We want to empower our motion designer campers to consider the value and impact of sound in their work. The majority of our time was spent getting outside, exploring, and thinking about sound design and how to source audio creatively from the world around us. We still reserved time in the classroom to quickly demonstrate some of the post production process with our newly captured sounds, explain basic terminology and concepts, and field some questions from participants.

Once the camp was over we completed the spot using only a selection of our found sounds from the course sessions and recorded a behind the scenes video explaining some of the process.
